Solutions Engineer – C&D CoE
Shape how engineering teams build and run cloud solutions at scale.
As a Solutions Engineer within Customer & Digital (C&D), you support a wide range of engineering teams in managing their cloud ecosystems effectively. This spans AWS, Azure and other environments, from cloud-native to on-premise and container-based workloads.
In this role, you are the go-to person for both guidance and hands-on support. You help teams improve their security posture, streamline their operations and build solutions that are scalable, consistent and easy to maintain. At the same time, you play an important role in connecting teams with the broader organisation, ensuring alignment with Group IT and other central initiatives.
We are also heavily investing in AI. AI plays a major role in how we work, what we build and how we continuously improve. As a Solutions Engineer, you are at the forefront of bringing these capabilities to our teams in a practical and impactful way.
What you are going to do
In this role you operate across multiple teams and domains. You combine hands-on engineering with coaching and alignment, always focused on improving both the systems we build and the way teams work.
- Act as the linking pin between application teams and the broader NN organisation, ensuring that organisational initiatives and standards land effectively and are adopted within C&D
- Support teams in improving their security posture and operational excellence, including setting up meaningful dashboards, improving observability and contributing to smoother incident management
- Build automations and reusable solutions (e.g. CI/CD, infrastructure and operational processes) that reduce repetitive work and drive consistency across teams
- Share knowledge proactively and coach engineers and teams on cloud, DevOps and security topics, helping them grow and become more self-sufficient over time
- Drive continuous improvement of engineering practices within C&D, including the adoption of modern technologies and AI-driven solutions

Who you are
We are looking for a colleague who enjoys working across different teams and domains, and who is comfortable switching between hands-on engineering and supporting others. You like to understand how things work end-to-end and take pride in helping teams improve their way of working, not just solving the issue at hand.
You naturally bring structure and clarity in environments where things are still evolving. You take ownership, are proactive and don’t wait for direction when you see something that can be improved. At the same time, you are approachable and work well with others, building relationships and aligning stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
You are curious and open to feedback, both in how you grow yourself and how you help others grow. You actively keep up with new developments, such as AI, and explore how these can be applied in practice to make engineering work more effective.
- Hands-on experience with cloud engineering (AWS and/or Azure)
- Solid foundation in software engineering and understanding of modern architectures
- Experience with the DevOps lifecycle (build, deploy, run, monitor)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. CDK, Terraform, Bicep or similar)
- Familiarity with container-based or serverless environments is a plus
Who you will work with
You will join the Center of Engineering-team, part of Customer & Digital (C&D) organisation within Nationale-Nederlanden. C&D connects the different business units with our customers by building and running shared digital platforms and capabilities. This includes customer portals, mobile apps, chatbot technology and supporting disciplines such as UX, Research and Data Science.
Within this environment, you work closely with multiple application teams, Engineering Managers and stakeholders across NN. You act as a connector across teams and domains, helping to align ways of working and share solutions. The culture is collaborative and knowledge-driven, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and experimenting with new technologies such as AI.
