Solution Architect Data & AI Services

Role purpose: Design and lead end-to-end data and AI solutions that align business goals with scalable, secure, and cost-effective architectures. Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into implementable roadmaps and ensure successful delivery.

Core responsibilities

Architect data platforms and AI services across ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, and model lifecycle management.
Lead discovery, requirements gathering, and solution design workshops with business and technical teams.
Define target architecture, integration patterns, data governance, and operating model for Data & AI services.
Create reference architectures, solution blueprints, and technical documentation for delivery teams.
Guide implementation teams on best practices for scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
Estimate effort, define milestones, manage technical risks, and support project planning and delivery.
Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements; promote responsible AI practices.

Required skills and experience

Architecture: Proven experience as a solution/enterprise architect for data platforms and AI/ML solutions.
Data engineering: ETL/ELT, data modeling, data lakes/warehouses, streaming, and API integration.
AI/ML: Model deployment patterns, MLOps, monitoring, and lifecycle governance.
Cloud: Hands-on architecture on major cloud providers; infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices.
Security & governance: IAM, encryption, data privacy, lineage, quality, and access controls.
Communication: Ability to present trade-offs, influence decisions, and align cross-functional stakeholders.

As a Solution Architect within Data & AI Services, you define and drive the architecture of enterprise Data & AI products, platforms, and cloud-native solutions that enable NN’s data-driven and AI-powered future. The role also serves as a technical leader, guiding engineers, influencing architectural decisions, and promoting engineering excellence.

What you are going to do

You will act as the bridge between business needs, product management, engineering teams, and enterprise architecture, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, reusable, and aligned with NN’s strategic technology direction.

Define end-to-end architectures for Data & AI Products
Translate business outcomes and product visions into scalable technical solutions
Design integration patterns across Data Governance, Data Engineering, AI Engineering, and Business Intelligence domains
Ensure data products are reusable, discoverable, secure, and aligned with enterprise governance standards
Lead Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and design reviews, ensuring consistency with enterprise architecture principles and standards
Act as trusted advisor to Product Managers, Product Owners, Engineering Managers, and development teams

Who you are

You combine expertise in cloud platforms, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), software engineering, data engineering, AI engineering, and data products to design solutions that accelerate adoption and value realization across NN Group.

Never losing sight of the bigger picture, you are keen to collaborate to achieve our objectives. In addition, you have:

8+ years experience in solution architecture, software engineering, platform engineering, or related fields
Experience designing enterprise-scale Data & AI solutions
Proven track record delivering complex data, analytics, or AI platforms
Proven expertise in Data & AI platforms, data products, Data Mesh, MLOps/AgentOps, data governance, data quality
Solid software engineering background with Python, APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, DevSecOps, observability, and SDLC best practices
Strong knowledge in cloud and platform engineering across Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, PaaS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and cloud security
Ability to work collaboratively with other architects and stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
A good command of both Dutch and English is preferred

A requirement for this position is that candidates are currently living and working in the Netherlands.

In this role, you will work closely with Product Owners, Enterprise, Domain and Security Architects, Engineering Managers, Data & AI engineering teams, and business stakeholders across NN Group. You will collaborate across platforms and business units to align architectural decisions, enable reusable solutions, and help teams deliver secure, scalable, and value-driven Data & AI capabilities.
