Your challenge as Senior Risk Manager at NN Life & Pensions? You’ll be developing life insurance risk models with an impact of billions of euros in Solvency II capital requirements. Based in Rotterdam, you will work at the heart of the Netherlands’ largest life insurer, collaborating closely with senior management, model validators and auditors.
This job offers you a monthly salary between € 4700 and € 6600 depending on your experience. This is based on a 36-hour work week, excluding a 13th month and holiday allowance.
What you’re going to do
As Senior Risk Manager, you will develop the statistical models for longevity, mortality and morbidity risks. You will also be responsible for their adequate documentation and for securing their approval by the validators and auditors, as well as the regulators. Another important aspect of your role is communicating the results and analyses to senior management, who are knowledgeable about Solvency II reporting, but no experts in risk modelling.
Your main responsibilities:
- Developing, improving and updating risk models used to calculate and estimate life insurance risks and related capital requirements under Solvency II
- Developing data analyses related to these risks, providing relevant insights geared to managing them
- Ensuring proper implementation of capital requirements in reporting processes
- Providing expert advice related to life insurance risks to internal stakeholders, and explaining your models and analyses to them
- Discussing and securing approval of the risk models with validators, auditors and regulators

Who you are
First and foremost, you are an expert insurance risk modeller, who thrives on developing models that pass the scrutiny of validators and regulators. You have an eye for detail, but don’t lose sight of the bigger picture. You also know how to effectively communicate complex information and promote your work to internal stakeholders, including senior management. And you’re motivated to help achieve your team’s objectives, securing high quality and meeting deadlines. In addition you have:
- A master’s degree in a quantitative subject like Actuarial Science, and relevant experience of statistical modelling of insurance risks
- Demonstrable experience of working in the European insurance sector, in Finance and/or Risk areas
- In-depth knowledge of the aspects of Solvency II related to risk modelling and financial reporting
- Experience with Excel (VBA), as well as R and/or Python, as we’re using these languages for modelling
- An excellent command of spoken and written English
