Oikocredit International is looking for a Legal Officer (full-time, 36-40 hours) to be based in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. This role is part of the Legal & Compliance Department, and reports to the Senior Legal Counsel and the General Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and assistance in credit/debt related matters dealt concerning Africa, India and SEA regions and where applicable involve in preliminary stages of equity transactions.
- Provide assistance and take part in transactional advisory involvement and in drafting, reviewing and negotiating loan and investment documents, security and ancillary documentation – also in ensuring enforceability and fulfilment of all required formalities to safeguard Oikocredit's interests.
- Deal with legal matters in the assigned regions: perform various administrative and legal tasks, including negotiation, processing, research and business support in a cross-jurisdictional context.
- Deal as with pending ad hoc legal issues and administrative matters. Liaise with external legal counsels and assist in structuring secured/unsecured transactions in accordance with relevant legal concerns.
- Serves as escalation point for complex legal matters and ensure accurate advice is implemented under supervision.
- Working and taking part in a variety of ad hoc finance and corporate M&A related projects.
Education and experience
- Masters’ Degree in the field of law
- 2-3 years of relevant prior legal working experience preferably in the flied of banking/finance and/or corporate M&A.
- Native level fluency in French & fluency in English
- Ability to work on various projects and ad hoc issues simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High levels of initiative, pragmatism and common sense.
- Ability to interpret complex legal issues and translate them into clear practical guidance to the business.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing within all levels of the corporation.
- Ability to utilize creative problem resolution skills to handle client related problems.
